Black Canyon Photography
The Black Canyon of the Gunnison is a National Park, located about 12 miles east of Montrose. The black in the name is due to the depth of the canyon--over 2800' in places, and the lack of light that gets into the canyon because of the vertical walls. These walls and the canyon are a playground for anglers, hikers, ambitious climbers and photographers. The light, contrast, colors and seasons all provide photographers with nearly unlimited possibilities as they attempt to capture through the lens what the eyes and heart take.
